Meet Joanne Royer, educator in our 3-6 classroom

Joanne didn’t stumble into this work. She chose it, and she chooses it again every single day. Her years working with children brought her to Montessori education almost inevitably, and it suits her deeply. As a certified Montessori educator with specialized training, she meets every child as an individual, honoring their pace, their needs, and the unique person they’re becoming.

Watching them grow into themselves is what drives her: gaining independence, building confidence, supporting one another, and thriving in an environment that feels both secure and full of possibility.

What she values most about this approach is how it holds two things at once: the deeply personal work of helping each child develop, and the equally important work of learning to live together. The Children’s House is a little world of its own, where children learn to cooperate, embrace shared responsibilities, and build genuine connections with one another.

She places great importance on the relationship with families as well. For Joanne, it is in that partnership between school and home that a child finds the stability they need to grow with confidence.

This is profoundly human work, and she knows she is exactly where she belongs. It nourishes her as much as she pours into it.
